FLOOR TILES
Floor tiles such as those in an entrance way, can vary from home to home and traffic in these
areas usually sustain the greatest amount of abrasion due to the constant
walking. The abrasion also depends on the actual location of the
tiles. For instance, if you have an entrance by a sand or cobblestone
walkway the sand and dirt carried in by your shoes will slowly wear away the
floor's
finish. Also, in the kitchen, the floor gets the greatest wear and tear. Grease, chemicals, liquids, dirt and more importantly pots, pans and plates
can fall and damage the tile resulting in the glaze to pop or chip.
Based
on the floor's possible wear and tear, it is important to choose a tile that is both resistant to chemicals
and abrasion (must have a high P.E.I rating, usually in between 4 to
5).
